These titles sound similar, but they represent different stages of professional training.A student intern is currently enrolled in a graduate counseling program and completing the clinical internship required for their degree. Student intern sessions at The Wellspace are offered at reduced rates or, when available, on a pro bono basis and are not billed to insurance.A Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) has already earned a master's degree and is completing the post-graduate supervised clinical experience required for independent licensure in Florida. Registered interns are practicing clinicians and may accept many of the insurance plans offered at The Wellspace, depending on the insurer.This distinction can be confusing, so we're happy to help you understand your options and find the right fit.
